At our March Board Meeting, we elected Ricky Martinez to serve on the board as our Advocacy Chair. We are delighted to bring Ricky’s passion and volunteer spirit to the Friends of Barton Springs Pool board, and look forward to working with him to help return the pool to its rightful glory.

Pool cleanings take place in two-hour from 10-12 and 12-2. We need three to ten volunteers for each shift along with experienced volunteers to serve as shift leaders.
At the seasonal monthly pool cleanings, FBSP volunteers scrub rocks, vacuum the pool bottom, clean algae off steps and railings, skim algae off the pool surface, plant flowers and help maintain the pool grounds, paint benches and trim, and generally lend a hand to make the pool and grounds as clean and beautiful as possible.
So come roll up your sleeves, bring a friend, have a snack and enjoy the company of other Barton Springs enthusiasts. We look look forward to seeing you there!

Barton Springs Pool Spring Cleaning — Thanks for Helping!
The rescheduled Barton Springs Pool Spring Cleaning on Saturday, March 7, was a great success and fun outing. Fueled with donated Tacodeli breakfast tacos and Caffé Medici coffee, fresh lemonade, pizzas, and donuts provided by Friends of Barton Springs, our volunteers did yeoman’s work on various landscaping tasks with surprisingly nice weather and brand new tools provided courtesy of a grant from Austin Parks Foundation. Over 60 two-hour volunteer shifts were filled with our wonderful volunteers who helped aerate and mulch the gardens around the bathhouse, clear the dead brush from next to the south side ramp, and weed the lawns on the south and north side. We had great turnout from many of our regular Friends, as well as a number of students from the LASA National Honor Society.
We thank all of our Friends for helping us clean and prepare the pool for next week’s official reopening! And special thanks to Tacodeli and Caffé Medici for their generous donations to support the event!
