Living Springs Summer Full Moon Screenings

FBSP is going to get the Hollywood Treatment! Well, that may be a *bit* of an exaggeration…but we will be up on the big screen for the 3rd annual Living Springs Documentary full moon screening of 2015! For any new Friends out there, The Living Springs is an interactive documentary project that incorporates stories, history, images, videos, interviews and information about our beloved Barton Springs Pool. Unlike a traditional documentary, this project releases dozens of videos in shorter episodes on the web and at live screenings like this one, that usually focus on a theme or topic about Barton Springs.

So mark your calendars for Friday July 31st at 8:30 pm* to come see if you or your swimming friends made the cut into the episode “Cleaning Day“. This episode is a humorous behind-the-scenes look at the unique stewardship practices that contribute to making the Springs an amazing place for humans and endangered species alike, featuring the Barton Springs lifeguards and staff, and community volunteers from the Friends of Barton Springs pool. That’s us! That’s you! You won’t want to miss it!

“History, science and culture come together in “Barton’s Four Springs,” Most people know Barton Springs as the main pool, but Barton Springs is actually a system of Springs, each with their own special story. Interpretive planner, Clark Hancock shows us some hidden gems all within walking distance of the diving board. Original animations and lively music tie this story together.

Enjoy the amazing underwater world of Barton Springs accompanied by original music created especially for Living Springs by composer Graham Reynolds.

Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. After the screening, take a free swim in the Springs and join in the “Keep Austin Weird” tradition of howling at the full moon. No rain date.

This screening coincides with the opportunity for the community to contribute to continue to add to the series. To donate: Follow us on FB

*August Full Moon Screening will be held on Saturday August 31st at 8:30 pm.
